1. Acid stains: These stains should be addressed quickly. Dilute them with baking soda and water or club soda. Then apply a solution of one part ammonia and 10 parts water. Rinse with cold water, let dry and vacuum gently.

2. Alcoholic beverages: Quickly treat area with cold water and absorb the excess liquid.  Mix one teaspoon of mild detergent, one teaspoon of white vinegar and one quart of warm water, then apply this solution to the spot and let it dry. Afterwards, vacuum gently.
